In "Alice in Wonderland", the main character is faced with a difficult decision - marry the person she is expected to, or risk staying single and unhappy all her life. Alice decides to do neither, but instead follows a white rabbit through his hole. This story is certainly familiar to most movie-goers, but to an Alice virgin, it offers numerous surprises and only a few - as one can expect from a blockbuster like this - foreseeable plot turns.
Not many directing styles are as easily recognized within the first few seconds of a film as Tim Burton and his choice of music, lighting, his dark vibrant mood, and his leading man. Disney's Alice In Wonderland directed by Burton, and starring Johnny Depp and real life partner Helena Bonham Carter, is not what most diehard Disney fans may expect, but I doubt they will be disappointed.
